Can you help us Make a Difference ?

Earth Month Network, Inc. (EMN) is a non-profit, IRS charitable 501(c)(3) organization that operates the legal affairs of Earth Month® with as much PT volunteerism as possible.

With changing times, our expenses have dramatically increased. Our global budget for 2026 has grown exponentially, requiring adjustments. This means with your support, we will be able to accomplish a lot without the same type of overhead as a for-profit or large non-profit. The work cannot get done without donations and grant funding. The reality is that the work must go on, and the bills must get paid, and expenses covered.

A nonprofit is still a business, it just does not manufacture or sell items, they provide services that still cost to opererate.

Every day of each month, Earth Month Network expands in one way or another to bring about awareness, knowledge, education, stewardship, and activism to individuals, businesses, and government on environmental issues globally, and is available to 196 countries.

Moving forward in our 56th year, we are expanding the need for involvement in the physical and natural environments, but just as important are social, cultural, and economic environments. The basic concepts of “The 10-R’s of Sustainability” are moving rapidly.  The need for Environmental Justice,  Human, Civil, and Constitutional Rights is also a vital part for those who cannot speak for themselves.

A Non-profit is A Business, But How Does It Work?

1.  Board oversight has 3 meetings annually.

2.  No more than one individual or 10% can be compensated.

3.  No conflict of interest clause internally or externally.

4.  Effectiveness policy updated annually with effectiveness report.

5.  Spend at least 65% of funds on program/project activities.

6.  Spend no more than 35% on fund raising activities.

7.  Avoid accumulating funds that could be used for current program activities.

8.  Audit report for all financials over $1-M.

Detailed breakdown of expenses by line item and joint allocation.

9.  Budget planning for next physical year.

10. Accuracy of materials distributed, mailed out or posted online.

11. Comprehensive annual report.

12. Website disclosures.

13. Cause market disclosures if any.

14. Respond promptly to any issues or complaints.

This means that for #9, our budget planning for the year has a huge shortfall to complete our tasks, unlike other environmental non-profits.
