Data/AI Center Projects on The Rise

It can be put this way….you have the right to help us fight the

so-called data center trend!

There are many issues known and unknown with the generalized term “data centers.”  One needs to be informed to overcome the disinformation and propaganda in favor of these societal and cultural disruptors.

There are many categories of what is termed “centers” with specific use, size, engineered operations, etc. They can be anywhere from a computer room, a small server room to a larger server room, off-site rooms, small and large off-site centers, to hyperscale centers. The short list is this:

General Data Storage Centers

Cloud Storage:

Public Cloud, Private Cloud and Hybrid Cloud

Fusion Centers:

(80 Primary Federal DHS & Recognized State Operated)

Secured Information Data Centers (Gov)

Bit Coin Minning

Data Mining

AI Centers

AI Training

AGI or Artificail General Inelligence

ANI or Artificail Narrow Intelligence

ASI or Artificail Super Intelligence

Colocation Centers

Mixed Use Centers

Yes, the list goes on.

This is why they are termd centers as they have different purposes. The Applicants and Principals on a given project do not disclose what a center may be used for for security reasons, trade secrets, ets. The controling reason being  that in order for a center project to pay the bills they sell or lease out space to othere interested parties.

There were 4,287 centers in March and 1st of June it grew to 4,313, and June 8th it wet up to 4,328 in the USA as the numbers continue to grow rapidly. The national data center map is updated regularly so the nombers posted will change. The federal government has given huge incentives for new centers commissioned before January 1, 2030.

Project developers say and do a lot to get their foot in the door but there is a lack of statistics on how much holds true to the end of their rehetoric.

Municipalites ancd counties do not have any codes in place of which to protect themselves, the citizens they sever and the environment from the harm centers cause.

The city of Flagstaff Arizona has taken the proper course with proactive code developement. This is one way to not only protects everyone but prevent unscrupulous projects from poping up. This is unlike other communities in Arizona like Maricopa as well as the 15 counties. The rest of the country is no different.

WEED, LLC from Tucson, AZ is in want of developing a mixed-use center in the small town of Portland, NY. on a parcel 44.8 acres of purchased golf course in a residential zoned area off Route 5 next to Lake Erie. The town has one ordinance, that being a noise ordinance. The town management has no clue what is going on or how to protect the town, surrounding areas and its citizens. They also do not post their public meetings required by N.Y. State law.

On May 5th The Pinal County Board of Supervisors approved Tempe-based "W Holdings" plans to construct a 500-acre Energy Generation and Technology Campus northeast of White-and-Parker and Teel Roads, abutting the southern boundary of the Ak-Chin Indian Community. Plans include a data center, battery energy storage system and a natural gas power plant. The Reservation has concerns for any historical artifacts that are burried.

On May 27th, The Pinal County Board of Supeviors continued  for new hearing on the La Osa data center project as they recived so many write in and personal appeance opposions to the project on 3,385 acres south of Eloy Arizona, along the Green Canal of Santa Cruz Wash  consisting of 59 data buildings. Due to so much opposition the Board moved for rehearing August 26th. Later, it was reported in the press that Applicats were going to reduce the 59 building to 11.

Utah officials approved a 40,000-acre AI data center in Box Elder County. Backed by investor Kevin O'Leary, the "Stratos Project" is projected to consume $100 billion to build, cover more than twice the size of Manhattan, and require 9 gigawatts of power—more than the entire state currently uses. After all the opposition the project  was reeduced by 75% of 40-K acres to10-K acress. Does this resolve anything?

June 4th in Albany N.Y. the vote will be taken on S9144A/A10141A - Statewide Data Center Moratorium Bill. Worked  until 04:30am to get all of the updates in. As of the afternoon, the Bill passed.

THE WANT FOR PROJECT URGENCY:

The administration in DC is in want to build 16 agency specific data centers projects with an additionals for consideration on Federal land for developement is on the table as well. Four specific locations are the Idaho National Labratory, Oak Ridge Reservation, Paducah Gaseous Diffusion Plant and the Savannah River Site. One needs to ask themselves, why so many centers in the USA?

NATIONAL SECURITY CONCERNS:

One of the largest concerns is with the growth of projects for centers across the country as some 200 are in waiting. Why so...mass surveillance of the populace with expansion since 9-11. As such, it is not lawful to utilized components from countries of concern, e.g. China (including Hong Kong and Macau), Russia, Iran, North Korea, Venezuela, and Cuba.

This can be found in the John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for 2019, the Department of Justice Data Security Rule through Executive Order  14117  that restricts transactions involving "bulk sensitive personal data" by countries of concern, and that are implemented by the Bureau of Industry and Security. This would prevent a project/center from being built  as they cannot stop components from these countries, and all centers handle government data in one form or another.

The trend now is for rural area land exploitation. This is accomplished in part by Palantir Technologies, Amazon, Google, Meta, Microsoft and data center REITs Digital Realty, Equinix, Prologis and Cloverleaf, DOD, Kevin O'Lear, Vermaland LLS. (Arizona), West Holdings (Arizona) and cannot forget Bill Gates and others.
